Policy and Incompetence led disasters.
Online networks are the only option available during Covid-19 Pandemic. World has moved to modern technologies for classes, examination and assessment to facilitate students. Whereas, Pakistan in general and Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in, particular, finding it very hard to adopt an online model. at least, The university has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Virtual University to access the Learning Management System. It is a matter of shame, the university has failed miserably to develop LMS and to assist its students. Department of Computer Science and the University's top management is solely responsible for such sheer incompetence. Moreover, they will probably make hue and cry over Higher education commission’s pressure and insufficient time to develop the system.so,it is a sad state of affairs.
Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy in his famous piece said," Pakistan has now legions of highly paid ignoramus cartoon professors". The point here to make, for what purpose are they? Only to beg in front of others or expert in signing MoUs. Interestingly, these teachers used to assign a project to students to develop different systems within days, but even students are not sincere with themselves as well. They will take help from others to accomplish a project which is a futile activity. For what purpose are these assignments?. If students will take other people projects only to register name among successful candidates.
Kevin Kelly, 2010 said," Technologies are inevitable". During testing times, the university has to embrace change to save the future of its students. it is difficult to hold classes and conduct an examination, promoting university students would have some serious consequences. The HEC has to formulate a comprehensive strategy to look into grievances of the huge number of students. Hence, when incumbents are blue-eyed and incompetent, the result will be no different as witnessed in the past.
